Jetty Fisher Privacy Policy

Jetty Fisher is the website at jettyfisher.com and the iOS and Android apps with bundle id com.jettyfisher.app. It is made by emaration.site. This page covers all of those.

Short version: we collect what the app needs to work. We do not sell your information. We do not run ads. We do not track you across other apps.

What we collect

• Account: username, email, and a hashed password. Google sign-in exists on the website only (not in the iOS or Android apps). If you use it, we store Google’s subject id so we can sign you back in. We never see your Google password.
• What you post: catch reports (including species), comments, photos of spots or catches, and spots you create. Public posts are visible to other users. Secret spots are only visible to you.
• Location, when you ask: if you tap “I’m here,” log a catch with GPS, or use camera identify, we use the coordinates you just granted to pick bay vs ocean rules, seasons, and ODA closures. We do not collect GPS in the background. We do not sell location.
• Camera / photos, when you ask: spot and catch photos you upload are stored on our servers (Cloudflare R2). Camera identify (Pro, native apps only, and only when that feature is switched on) sends the photo you just took to our Worker, which may send it to xAI to name species and sex. We do not use those photos to train a public model on our side. Delete a photo in the app and we delete our copy.
• Coarse signup place: country, region, and city that Cloudflare derives from the connection when you sign up. Not GPS.
• Usage counters: events such as “a signup happened” with coarse region and device type. No IP addresses in those events.
• Push: if you enable tide alarms in a browser or installed PWA, we store the push subscription. The iOS and Android store apps do not send those alarms yet.
• Cookies / login token: a session cookie or device token to keep you signed in. No third-party ad cookies.

Map tiles and imagery

Basemap tiles and the optional aerial overlay are fetched from our own origin (jettyfisher.com). The app does not call OpenStreetMap, Google Maps, or USGS hosts from your device. Our Worker reads a self-hosted OpenStreetMap-derived vector archive (ODbL) and, for Pro aerial, USGS National Map imagery (public domain). Those operators see our server, not your phone.

What we use it for

• Running the app: account, map, tides, rules, your catches, your alarms.
• Improving the app: aggregate counts of how features are used.
• Email, only if you opted in: occasional tide tips. Unsubscribe is in every email. The signup checkbox is off by default.
• Aggregate, de-identified stats such as catch counts by bay by month — never your name, email, or secret spots.

What we don’t do

• We don’t sell personal information.
• We don’t track you across other websites or apps.
• We don’t collect GPS in the background.
• We don’t flash a green “keeper” light. Size is a gauge. Rules are advisory, not legal advice.

Third parties

Hosting and storage: Cloudflare (Workers, D1, R2). Tides and currents: NOAA, requested by our servers. Shellfish closures: Oregon Department of Agriculture, requested by our servers. Camera identify, when enabled: xAI, with the photo you just took. Website Google sign-in: Google’s privacy policy applies to that button.

Children

Jetty Fisher is not directed at children under 13. Do not create an account for someone under 13.

Your choices

• Delete catches, photos, and comments in the app.
• Turn off tide alarms in Settings (website / PWA).
• To delete your account and its data, email support@jettyfisher.com from the same address as the account. We will delete it.
